Hi! I’m Hillary McAlhany, Owner and Senior Creative Consultant at Gate City Design. After successfully staging my own home for sale in 2018, I found my calling. I became certified as a home stager and founded my company, Gate City Design. I have true passion for home design and color, and I love helping people prepare their homes for a successful sale.
Before starting my own business, I worked as a critical care nurse and college instructor. My experiences of working with people during stressful situations taught me the value of communicating clearly and honestly, and always with consideration. During a Styling Evaluation, I give you straightforward, professional advice for making changes that will best improve your return on investment as you prepare your home for sale. And I don’t judge you or your furnishings.
For clients interested in redesign, I offer access to goods only available to those in the industry. If you are looking for the perfect new lamp, rug, or other furnishings, I have amazing resources!
What separates me from others in my industry? I am committed to budget-friendly design, using or repurposing items you already own whenever possible and avoiding excess waste. I only recommend purchases that are most likely to improve the aesthetics of your home. Having been through a number of relocations myself, I understand the stress of moving, and I am here to make that process easier for you!
Home Staging
Hillary McAlhany is certified in professional home staging and redesign through HSR. She works with home sellers still living in their homes, sellers with vacant homes, and people who want to refresh their existing home.
Color Selection
Paint color selection can be tricky! It’s easier and less expensive to get it right the first time. Color Evaluations provide clients with great options for new paint colors that don’t clash with their existing decor.
E-Design
It can be so difficult to imagine a new design idea unless you can see it! E-design boards allow you to see the proposed design and decor before you commit. It’s a fun way to see the potential of your vision for your home.
