A Highly Anticipated Bathroom Renovation is Underway!
Should I be happy about my impending bathroom renovation?
According to my husband, I should be. After all, we knew we would need a master bathroom renovation when we bought this aging house. So I told him that I am looking forward to having this enormous project done, but getting there is a process that I am not looking forward to at all.
Our master bathroom renovation has been planned for almost ten months, and we are six months late starting because…well, because of Covid. Because Covid made everything suck.
Sorry, just feeling super frustrated!
We spend the weekend migrating everything out of our master bathroom and closet, finding new places for all of our clothes, shoes, and bathroom goods. I am now convinced that a maximalist lifestyle no longer works for me. In the process of clearing out everything, I ran out of places to put my things, so everything is stacked up in the bedroom. Now I look like a hoarder, and it bothers me to my core.
Anyway, I’ll deal with the mess later.
Note to self: That may be a good blog article topic…after the bathroom renovation.
Back to the bathroom remodel
I took some good-bye photos of the old 90’s era bathroom and closet for the memory book. Sniff, sniff. I’ll miss the chrome-and-brass mixed metal fixtures that leaked. What about the faux-granite cultured marble countertop with all of its scratches? No, please don’t leave me!
Good-bye to the odd tile mosaic in the middle of the bathroom floor. And so long to the oversized jet tub that made the bathroom feel two sizes too small. The builder definitely crammed the largest tub possible into that space, by the way. Most of all, I will miss the rickety brass shower surround that I could never get clean. Yes, it’s a sad, sad day.
But wait, there’s more!
We’re also remodeling the master closet, since it attaches at the back end of the soon-to-be-remodeled bathroom. Forgive me for being overcome with emotion as I pay my respects to the awkward 90’s layout…the wooden hanging rods that still had price tags on them. I am also so sad to lose the fluorescent lights with mismatched undertones…the build-in shelving unit that never stayed organized…and finally, the carpet that appeared to be stained with self-tanner.
It’s an emotional time, but somehow I’ll get through this bathroom renovation.
