Bathroom Renovation Update: Progress is a Fabulous Thing!
What’s going on with my bathroom renovation project?
Well, the work is proceeding slowly and steadily, but I knew that the tile work would take multiple days to complete. The tile in the shower is small, and I chose three different tiles for visual interest. Unfortunately, having worked with small tiles before, I know that small tiles require a tremendous attention to detail. When I left for vacation, part of the shower had been completed. I returned to find all of the tile and grout installed! Yay!
Issues with the original tile selection
Just before my vacation, the bathroom designer called to tell me that the floor tile that I selected failed to arrive. Apparently, the delivery date for the tile had been pushed back several times due to…you guessed it! Supply chain issues. Ugh. The upside was that the tile specialist offered me a similar floor tile in the same color as the tile for the bottom of the shower, at a better price point! (Why didn’t I know that there was a matching tile in the first place?) Fortunately, the second-choice tile was available for immediate delivery.
In hindsight, I’m glad that the original tile didn’t come in, because the new tile looks amazing with the shower tile combination!
Next steps in the renovation
The next steps include finishing the trim work, installing the cabinetry, painting, and installing the fixtures. It sounds like a lot, and it is, but the most difficult of the bathroom renovation is finished. I am going to be so excited to see the finished product, hopefully on schedule!
