Who loves to clean the house? Not me!
To be honest, I love to have a clean house. It’s just that cleaning takes time and energy, both of which I have a finite amount. So when I take a morning to clean, I want to be sure that it’s done well.
When possible, I prefer to clean using products without a ton of synthetic fragrances or toxic chemicals. I also like re-usable products when they are an option, to avoid excess waste. Effective products are a plus, as well! Nobody, including me, wants to go to the trouble of cleaning, only to have disappointing results. Why bother?
I have compiled a list of my favorite go-to items for getting the house fresh and clean, for everyone who wants to start spring cleaning early this year. For anyone thinking about listing their property for sale this spring, this list is especially essential!

Best steamer to clean hard surface floors: Shark steam pocket mop
Without the Shark steam pocket mop, I would need to use three different methods to clean my tile, marble, and hardwood floors. The Shark steam mop cleans all three surfaces using steam–therefore, no harmful fumes, chemicals or fragrances! The microfiber mop is washable and reusable, and there is no disgusting mop water to deal with. I give this product two thumbs up for ease of use, effectiveness, and eco-friendliness.
Best Sprays for a shower deep-clean: Method surface cleaner sprays
The eucalyptus mint fragrance of the shower spray leaves the bathroom with a spa-like essence–it works extremely well against water spots and soap residue, too! The mint glass cleaner likewise leaves the glass surfaces spot-free with an incredible, fresh scent. All of the sprays are naturally sourced, biodegradable, and refillable, reducing waste.
Best reusable cloths to clean nearly anything: Mr. Siga microfiber
The microfiber cloths by Mr. Siga are super-strong, and they’re cute! I don’t mind cleaning quite as much when I use these bright, cheerful microfiber wipes. The best thing about them? Besides the color, I mean. They are washable and re-usable, they’re strong, and you can seriously even use them to wipe glass, without streaks! My days of using lint-y paper towels, are long over.
Best carpet shampoo-er: Bissell Pro Heat Pet Pro
Hear me out on this one. I have a dog, a teenager, and a husband who loves to spend time out in the yard. Our carpets get dirty. I’m a big advocate for NOT replacing carpet until it’s unavoidable, and this awesome carpet shampoo-er has got my back. Although the initial investment is somewhat steep, let me ask: have you priced the replacement cost for one room of carpet? Now you get my point!
What do I use in the carpet cleaning machine? My favorite is Hoover Permanent Stain Removal solution, for all of the above reasons! It works well on removing stains and odor, including pet accidents.
Best all-around clean fragrances for the home: Plant Therapy essential oils for diffuser
To keep your house smelling fresh and clean, days after you have done your deep scrub, I recommend these plant-based essential oils from Plant Therapy.
