Quick & Easy Way to Dress Up Canvas Wall Art
Canvas wall art is a staple item for home stagers!
It’s lightweight, easy to hang, not very expensive, and versatile–it also occupies dead space on large walls. I love the way that wall art can change the vibe of a room instantly. If you can’t find canvas art that you like, there’s always the option of painting your own art, and it isn’t very difficult.
Lately, I’ve been painting canvas art myself, aiming for a customized look in a couple of my rooms. My office is the one place in the house that I can have pink, so I painted a large pink-and-lavender canvas. The problem was that the canvas just blended into the wall. I needed contrast between the canvas and the wall, but I didn’t want to spend much. Solution? A floating frame.
Floating frames for canvas art
Floating frames are recessed, allowing a canvas to be placed in the frame easily. I framed several painted works last year, and the paintings looked like an actual set of pricey wall art. The frames give contrast to define the canvas, which gives the canvas art the appearance of much more expensive art work. Although the art looks much more expensive, I spent around $50 on canvas and $125 on the set of three frames.
Placing the canvas within the frame is simple; I actually used industrial glue on the back edges of the canvas frame, and laid the framed canvas within the floating frame until it was dry. The frames hang easily, and they are so light that they don’t add significantly to the weight or bulk of the art. They are a perfect solution for home stagers who need substantial, lightweight wall art that appears more expensive than it actually is.
